Skyscrapers Sudoku is a hybrid puzzle that combines the rules of classic Sudoku with the visibility constraints of Skyscrapers. The puzzle first appeared at the 2004 Japanese Puzzle Championship Finals.
As in standard Sudoku, each row, column, and region must contain all digits without repetition. Additionally, numbers placed outside the grid indicate how many “buildings” (digits) are visible from that direction, with taller digits blocking the view of smaller ones behind them. This blend of Latin-square structure and skyscraper-style sightlines creates elegant, layered logical deductions and remains a popular Sudoku variation in competitive settings.
Rules
Place a number from 1 to 6 in each empty cell in the grid such that each row, column and marked area contains each number exactly once. Each number represents the height of a building. The clues outside the grid indicate the number of buildings visible from the corresponding direction. A taller building will hide any shorter buildings behind it.
