Striped Snake

This variation of the classic Snake puzzle was introduced by Andrey Bogdanov in 2004 and first appeared in the Internet Puzzle Solvers Test (IPST).
Although it looks similar to the classic Snake, it features a checkerboard pattern that brings entirely new logic and solving techniques.

Rules

Shade some cells to form a snake - a chain of cells that does not touch itself, not even diagonally. The start and end of the snake are already given. If the snake is colored using two alternating colors, with both ends being dark, then the numbers to the right of the grid indicate how many dark snake cells are in each corresponding row, and the numbers below the grid indicate how many light snake cells are in each corresponding column.
