Pata

Pata is a variation of the classic Tapa puzzle, invented by Serkan Yürekli. While it preserves the fundamental constraint of Tapa — forming a single connected region of black cells without 2×2 fully black blocks — it reverses the meaning of clues. In Pata, the numbers in a cell indicate how many white cells appear consecutively around it, rather than black ones as in Tapa.
This inversion creates a fresh logical perspective while maintaining the familiar global structure of the original puzzle. As a result, Pata blends recognizable Tapa-style flow with new deduction patterns, offering solvers a clever thematic twist and a distinctly different solving experience.

Rules

Shade some empty cells black to create a single connected wall. No 2x2 square can be completely shaded. Numbers in a cell indicate the length of consecutive unshaded blocks in the neighboring cells. If there is more than one number in a cell, then there must be at least one black (shaded) cell between the unshaded cell groups. Clue cells are considered unshaded.
